Literal Translation & Interpretation:-
We know that Amiable & Competitive Deity (比肩、劫财) can be used to represent sibling, colleagues, school mates, course mates, cousin, associates, friends......
When it is favourable to DM, all the above mentioned personnel can be helpful to the DM. However, when it is unfavourable to DM, the reverse is also true. In this situation, it can be deemed as competitors, scheming individuals.....
We may then ask, since there are so many different representations, how can we know (confidently & accurately) which individual it is referred to in term of, say, relationship with DM.
When the Amiable &/or Competitive Deity is unfavourable & is appeared in the Heavenly Stems, it connotes poor relationship. Since Heavenly Stem represents outer (as compared to Earthly branch that denotes inner), the parties involved in such situation could be individuals that is not part of the family members, such as friends, colleagues and the likes.
When the Amiable &/or Competitive Deity is unfavourable & is appeared in the Earthly Branches, it also connotes poor relationship. But, in this instance, it refers to family members (i.e. inner) such as sibling or cousin. It could also refers to close or intimate friends.
Once again, the concept of Yin & Yang applies
.... intimacy & remote

Hi Master Goh,
If the Amiable &/or Competitive Deity is unfavourable and also appear in the Hidden Stem of the EB, can it also mean that the DM might not be aware that he/she has an enemy?
or that people do not like him/her?
Thank you.
Cnyelie
Cnyelie,
It is very difficult to answer your question :-(
In most instances (under normal chart / category 格局), when the Amiable &/or Competitive Deity is unfavorable, it simply mean that there is a strong presence of Amiable &/or Competitive Deity.
However, theoretically, I absolutely agreed with you that the individual might not be aware that he/she has an enemy. This is a good ones that I have learned from you :-)
Thank you Master Goh.
I'm just a beginner....but I've learnt a lot
from your books.
When are you publishing your 3rd book?
Cnyelie
Cnyelie,
I sincerely meant it when I said that :-)
Chinese Metaphysics is a body of knowledge that different people can view it differently. Hence, in order to master it professionally and completely (though not quite possible), one have to read (include sharing) widely and, most importantly, with an open-mind.
My 3rd book is already on the way. However, it is not on bazi :-( I am now writing a book on Name Analysis (Chinese Names & Christain Names).
You may have to write to my company if you really wish to have my 3rd bazi book published :-)
Hi Master Goh,
Name analysis is also an interesting subject.
However, I do hope your 3rd bazi book will come out in the future.
Thank you again.
Cnyelie
Hi Master Goh,
I am also enjoying reading your BaZi books as well.
Could you share some ideas on topics you may want to explore in your third BaZi book? Where does one go beyond your second book? What additional material does one need to master in order to conduct comprehensive readings on a highly consistent basis? Personally, I'd like to dig deeper into individual issues. Regular practice aside, what additional training/reading is required in order to achieve this objective? Are the BaZi classics also available in English?
As to your previous comment, are you implying that your third BaZi book is complete and all it needs is your company's approval for publication?
Best,
Sanjay
Sanjay,
Topics that I planned to cover in subsequent publications (if possible) include :-
- Kinship / relatioship with family members ;
- Romance ;
- Marriages ;
- Wealth ;
- Health
- Study....
I have submitted it to my company for approval. However, still await for their reply. They very much hope that I could write a book on fengshui
Sanjay,
As for how to enhance our knowledge, I would say that the Best Practice is to Practice.
I would like to advise any bazi enthusiast to focus the study on the subject of Personality first. Human behaviour do affects the decisions we made (such as choosing a career, life partner and the likes).
In order to decipher individuals personality correctly & professionally, you need to focus and to have a firm understandingt on the concepts of Yin & Yang, 5 elements & 10 Deities. Personally, I have spent about a year or two on this simple and, yet, powerful concepts. It is, at times, boring but effective.
After which, you may want to focus your learning on respective subjects separately.
For instance, spend about 1/2 a year on the theory of marriages, 1/2 a year on romance.....
As for the subject of Health, you may need to refer to the relevant materials on TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). If not, it could only cover superficially by just focus it from the perspective of Bazi :-)
Remember, there is NO Shortcut, BUT HARD WORK!
Sanjay,
As for the BaZi classics, it is also available in English.
Chinese bazi classics were written years of ago and was being written in the form of poetic whereby it is not so easily understood by the modern society.
In addition to the aforesaid language barrier, the authors (our ancestors) deliberately omitted certain vital information (if not, distorted) which required further interpretation.
Hence, by reading the original source (i.e. bazi classics written in Chinese) alone is extremely challenging.
It is sad (but is a fact) to state that the meaning is further diluted (if not, distorted) during the process of translations as well as interpretations.
For the beginners or for the persons where the Chinese is not your first language, avoid getting yourself into those classics.
You will get even more confused...
I also waiting for Master Goh 3rd bazi book.
Hi Master Goh,
Thank you for your wonderful guidance and list of proposed topics. Do you plan to also cover the theory behind each proposed topic in greater detail?
I hope your company can take this feedback as testament of our enthusiastic response. We eagerly await the arrival of your third book on BaZi.
With many blessings,
Sanjay
Hi Master Goh,
I been away from the Internet for few days, and hard time following what you wrote for the last few days.
How about a DM with a many Amiable & competitive, and the also a fair amout of output (in your term is Inplicit and Expicit talent), will this help the DM, as the Amiable and competitive are busy controling the output of the DM? Maybe is like a person (the DM) giving make lots of output (jobs, scenarios, events etc) and making the DM colleagues, friends busy.
WeiKee
Wei Kee,
To be very frank, I don't quite understand your statement.
However, a fair amount of Output is good in exhausting the excess energy of the strong DM.
In this scenarios, I would conclude that the person is firm & determined (strong DM) and, also, is able to communicate clearly & convincely what he/she had in mind (fair amount of output).
As for whether the DM will make his colleagues busy, I would think it is possible.
Since he/she is strong (referring to DM), he/she is energetic by nature.
And since the output is favorable, he/she is smart & would like to achieve his/her dreams actively & proactively.
Hi Master Goh,
Sorry, think i wrote it wrong :), what i mean is if a strong DM have strong present of Amiable & competitive (Jie Chai 劫财 & Bi Jian 比肩), and at the same time have a strong Explicit Talent (Shang Guan 伤官), will this help reduce the impact of Amiable & competitive as this 2 deities (Amiable & competitive) are being weaken by the Shang Guan?
Definitely, the negative impact (if it is too strong) of strong Amiable & Competitive Deity would be weakened by the presence of Shang Guan.
If the weakening effect is just 'nice' to the extent that the DM becomes balance, all the positive effects can be expected.
