Bazi Daily - 01/07/2010

Today, I shall explore you with the steps of identifying Chart Types.

Guiding principle of establishing Common Chart Pattern

Common chart patterns are based on the derivation of the prevailing ten deities, through the observation of the covert stems (main and residual energies) within the month earthly branch, and after which aptly named accordingly.

Below are several factors to consider before deciding on the chart pattern:

a. The creative or destructive relationship, between the day stem and the main covert stem within the month earthly branch that corresponds with the year stem, month stem or hour stem, will establish the chart pattern.

b. If the main covert stem within the month earthly branch does not coincide with the year stem, month stem or hour stem, then the next step to do is to check for any corresponding residual energies. Thereafter, the creative or destructive relationship between the day stem and the residual covert energy of the month branch will establish the chart pattern.

c. If both the main and residual energies within the month earthly branch do not correspond with the year stem, month stem or hour stem, the most prominent covert stem shall be selected and compared with the day stem to establish a chart pattern.

Within individual Chart Pattern, we can further refine or categorize it into different Chart Styles :-

Under Commom Chart Pattern (普通格局)

- Implicit talent chart style (食神格)

- Explicit talent chart style  (伤官格)

- Conventional wealth chart style (正财格)

- Unconventional wealth chart style (偏财格)

- Proper authority chart style (正官格)

- Imposing authority chart style (七杀格)

- Primary resources chart style (正印格)

- Secondary resources chart style (偏印格)

What is a Chart Pattern?

I have jumped the queue to discuss the purpose of identifying Chart Pattern on yesterday posting.   For those that have never heard of the term ~ Chart Pattern, you maybe wondering what it is?

Essentially, a chart pattern illustrates the principal feature of a set of eight characters. The precise and accurate recognition of this main feature can accelerate the comprehension of the four-pillar chart.

Readers may have to take note that the four pillars may be a simple configuration but it can spin off over five hundred thousand combinations.  Ancestors had categorised them into various chart patterns according to their characteristics and prevailing elements.

For your information, Chart patterns can be divided into 2 general groups?  Want to make a guess?

I have covered the subject of Compound Stars, now I shall proceed with the subject of Chart Pattern (格局).

We have heard of the term Chart Pattern, but what is it all about?  What is the purpose of defining or categorizing a chart?
In the retail market, every product has its own unique trademark and design to distinguish it from others. In fact, functions and features are immediately identified with certain brand names.

A Bazi Chart is just like a product, has its own unique feature that is different from other charts.  By categorizing or assigning a name to it (based on certain set of guidelines), we should be able to tell something about the chart.

Put it simply, the Chart Pattern is to define & to show the unique features of the chart.  Hence, facilitating the process analysis.

BTW, I had received an interview on the subject of Chinese Name Analysis by Razor TV (a subsidiary of The Straits Times, Singapore).  They have put it up in their webseite.
