How to tell whether a person is law obliging and is able to exercise self-disciplined?
First come into my mind is the presence of Proper Authority (正官) in the bazi chart. Proper Authority represents law obliging, able to control one's behaviors.
Others include : -
- the presence of Star of Aid (天乙贵人) ; or
- the presence of Star of Benevolence (天德贵人) & Star of Kindness (月德贵人) ; or
- the presence of favorable elements ; or
- the absence of unfavorable elements ; or
- the elements (in the chart) are harmoniously located (i.e. no severe clashes) ; or
- the list can goes no.......
Since we can tell from a chart, whether or not, a person is able to control his/her behaviours, we can also tell the reverse - such as whether a person is rebellious or not :-)

For a weak DM with too much of output element maybe make him rebellious.

Generally speaking, for a strong Earth DM .They are more discipline as compared to the rest of the DMs ( fire, metal,water,wood) if given the condition that all of them have the strong Proper Authority or implicit Authority, especially when the Authority is a Jia Wood.
Conditions apply :the Authority has to be rooted. with a Yin (tiger)
However, with too much of a combo like a YIN, MAO CHEN combo. It could denote an extreme discipline state which may suggest a confinement like a " nunnery " "prison" or " House Arrest".
Another interesting thing to note is that if the DM is an Earth Person. You can make further observation on his face if the following feature on the face can be detected.
eg. Uneven skin, scar, moles and extreme growth of facial hair, like mustache and beard.
Which further suggest on the DM Discipline Authority or "confinement" state.
Depends on a case by case basis.
