月刃与日刃
Yue Ren & Ri Ren

What is meant by“Yue Ren (月刃)”and“Ri Ren (日刃)”?

In general, when the elements akin to the DM but of different Yin-Yang nature appear in the heavenly stems, we term them“Competitive Deities”; the same elements that appear in the main energies of the earthly branches are termed “Ren (刃)”.

“Ren (刃)”appears at the main energies of different earthly branches, and has the below pseudonyms:

Ren (刃) appears at Month Branch       =  known as Yue Ren (月刃)
Ren (刃) appears at Day Branch           =  known as Ri Ren (日刃)

Literally, the Chinese character 刃 refers to a sharp blade that can inflict harm & damage (which also known as the 'Sword').

It is actually the Star of Aggression (羊刃),  connoting intensity and aggression,

Together, the Star of Aggression (Yang Ren) is a compelling compound star, which encompasses very resolute and destructive potential. Whether it is good or bad will have to bank on how other latent conflicts or unfavourable factors within the four-pillar chart shall affect it.

Like a double-edged sword, the Star of Aggression may harm others but it can also hurt the one who wields it.

Master Goh,

Wat is the difference when a Competitive or Amiable appears in Heavenly Stem instead of Earth Branch?

Why does it seem the combination is more potent when it appear in EB?

And if the Competitive appear is Hour or Year Earth Branch, what kind of 'Ren' is it?

Andy,

HS represents Yang (denotes more obvious & immediate) & EB represents Yin (denotes less obvious & slow). Hope this answer to first part of your doubt.

As for the potency of combination that is taken place in EB, it affects the 'root' (i.e. fundamental or foundation) of the entire pillar :)

I can't recall of the term that use to describe the 'Ren' that appear in the Hour or Year EB.

Master Goh,

How about the personality side of JieCai?

I guess the topics of Authority and Talent stars have been quite popular on your blog with many readers participating, but i was looking through your old posts and can't seem to find many discussions on JieCai and BiJian.

I know that every star has potential for good and bad; but with a name like JieCai, which literally means Robbing Wealth, is the Competitive star one that we should be extra careful of?

It's a star that seems to hurt wealth, hurt wife and hurt dad... Sounds dangerous indeed!

In the following chart, would you think JieCai is the most prominent player?

x Gui Ren Ren
x You Yin Xu

Andy,

We can't & shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Similarly, we shouldn't judge the deity by its name, such as Jie Cai (robbing Wealth).

When it is favorable, Jie Cai can better support the DM than the Bi Jian.

However, when it is too strong, what you have mentioned is also true.

As for the chart you have cited, the Jie Cai is prominent as it appears in the Heavenly Stems. However, in the month of Yin, I doubt that Jie Cai has any significant effect to DM.

Thanks Master Goh,

Can I take this to mean that although JieCai makes its appearance, it will fail to make a profound impact on the DM in terms of personality?

So in this chart of clashes, the character of which of the 10d do you think the DM will show most of?

Andy,

No, every deity has his role to play. The Jie Cai(s) that appeared in the Heavenly Stem (yang) are the way the DM trying to portray himself or herself. The impact (at least on surface) cannot & should not be neglected.
