I have mentioned it twice that we can associate beauty with the presence of favorable Metal & Water in the natal chart.
Today, the last day of the year 2009, I would like to add in one more condition for your consideration, ie :-
When the energy of the metal & water is overly strong, the other extreme (ugliness) is also true.
Important lesson learned from the above is that 'to identify any form of extremities', simply reverses the theory for one end & applies to the other end, the answer would be correct as well :)

It seems that a chart with a certain element (especially DM) strong and no disturbance (clash, combo, xing, etc) plus not weakened (or dirtied), they looks pretty/handsome. Usually rooted.
I wonder the difference in "beauty/handsome" (of other elements) compared to those with favorable METAL and WATER?

Metal & water are normally associated with fair skin & of elegant look.
Fire, on the other hand, associates with the 'brightness' & happy nature. The individuals with Wu Fire as favorable element looks healthy & shining.
You may continue to associate it with your understanding of 5 elements & its representations.

The question that follow is : HOW?
If the Flower of Romance (桃花) is favorable & is locating in the Spouse Palace, the Spouse could be good looking & is attractive.

What if the Flower of Romance (桃花) is NOT favorable but still located in the Spouse Palace?
To view it as not favorable, I suppose the chart has to be weak and does not like to be controlled (Authority) for female or exhausted (Wealth) for males.

In Chinese, there is a term to describe when the Flower of Romance is not favorable, i.e. :-
烂桃花 (Rotten Romance)
'What is the implication' as you may ask?
Get a good grasp of the positive aspect of Flower of Romance. The reverse holds true when it is unfavorable.
The reason that I am reluctant to name the negative aspects is just to avoid unnecessary disturbance to those with Rotten Romance in his/her Spouse Palace :(

There are 4 sets of SanHe (3 Harmony) and each set has an associated Flower of Romance (桃花). When the Flower is not in the natal charge but the other two elements that make up one of the 3 Harmonies exist, can we conclude that the 桃花 exist?
In my original question, I asked how can we see if the spouse is handsome/beautiful. Can I assume your response is in regards to appearance only? If not, than how can we see if the spouse is beautiful on the inside?

According to the classical theory, there is such term as 拱合 (literally, we can translate it as Hand-shaking Combo).
Since it is only a Hand Shake, there is some form of affinity but such relationship not stable or not noticeable.
In the way you can deem it as existent. BUT, to me, I don't place particular attention on it.
Yes, the statement here are more related to the outer appearance.
As for the 'inner beauty', look for the favorable elemeent. If the Spouse Star or the deity sitting inside the Spouse Palace, the theory holds true.

If the Spouse Star in the Spouse Palace also happens to be a Flower of Romance, and favorable then can it be concluded that the spouse is beautiful in both appearance and inner?
For those charts that are borderline, not overly strong and not exactly weak, how would we determine if the spouse element is favorable or not?

I have no idea of what is "Silent Push". Hence, not able to comment whether it is the same concept as 'Hand-shaking Combo'.
Anyway, do not be disturbed by such combo as we seldom use it in our consultation :)
As a quick reference, if we cannot determine the favorability of element, it is likely to be a neutral deity. Since it is neutral deity, we can conclude that the spouse is AVERAGE :)
