Bazi Daily - 06/12/2009

古人所谓‘大难不死’则大都是具有正印及天德、月德比较多。

Literal translation & interpretation:-

From times to times, we do witness that there are individuals that seem to be so fortunate (or unfortunate) to have escaped from calamity.

If we were to explain it from the perspective of chinese metaphysics, we could attribute it to the existence of the following favorable Compound Stars (神杀) in the chart :-

= Primary Resource (正印)
= Star of Benevolence (天德贵人)
= Star of Kindness (月德贵人)

Personally, I would like to include 'Star of Aid (天乙贵人)' in the list :)

Hi Master Goh,

1) Is Primary Resource also considered a Compound Star (Shen Sha)?

2) What if the compound stars contain unfavorable deities. Are they still considered favorable as per your statement?

Best,
Sanjay

Hi Master Goh,

How does one categorize a pillar elementally?

A case in point, a Xin-Chou LP: Would this luck pillar be considered to have a Water luck (based on seasonality of Chou), a Metal luck (based on the HS), or Earth luck (based on branch), or Metal luck (as branch element Ji generates Xin)?

I have also heard the HS defines the element for the first five years of a LP, and the branch for the latter five?

Thoughts? What has been your experience?

Best,
Sanjay

Sanjay,

Primary Resource Deity does not belong the any group of the Compound Stars, though I included it in the list :)

If the Compound Star contains unfavorable element & deity, it would still be helpful to the DM by 'reducing' the degree of severity.

Sanjay,

According to the ancient classical theory, the Branch of the LP is more important than Stem which I am also subscribe to it.

However, we can't view it separately & in isolation without considering the impact from either the stem or the branch.

If the branch of LP is an Earth, the element of the stem would have an impact over it.

If the stem is an Earth or a Fire, then the LP would be a strong earth environement.

However, if the stem is a Wood, the energy of the Earth (in the branch) would reduce. And this reduction in energy is definitely more than 5 years.

Bazi is a science & an art in analysing human behaviours. Though human being is a complex recreatures, but avoid falling into the trap of analysing Bazi mechanically by bring too much theory.

Thank you Master Goh. I sometimes get confused with certain luck pillars. I'll follow your guidelines.

However, I have a minor clarification:

You said, "However, if the stem is a Wood, the energy of the Earth (in the branch) would reduce. And this reduction in energy is definitely more than 5 years"

Is it safe to assume that towards the end of the 10-year luck period, Earth Qi would begin to wane, whereas in a strong Earth LP, Earth Qi would be consistently strong throughout the 10 year period?

My earler statement that "HS defines the element for the first five years of a LP, and the branch for the latter five" was based on the observation that heavenly stems identify prevailing Qi, or that which is at the surface and readily apparent.

Best,
Sanjay

Sanjay,

Do agree with the assumption you had made :)

However, in reality, during the process of consultation, I seldom focus my attention on this finest differences.

Hi Master Goh, so the Branch in the Luck Pillar determines the nature of the luck cycle? So if LP is 丁亥, it would be considered as Water luck cycle? And would the energy in 亥 be reduced as it conquers 丁?

Traditionally, we use the term 'the DM is in the Water luck cyle (行水乡) for 亥、子 & 丑 LPs. This applies to 丑 as well, even though, by nature, 丑 is an Earth element.

Hence, theoretically, we can safely view it as the Water Lucky Cycle.

I wouldn't say that the Branch in the LP determines the nature of the luck cycle, but, rather, the energy of the Branch in the LP is definitely play 'more important' role than the Stem.

Since 亥 water represents Winter, I deeply doubt that how much harm a candle light (Ding) can bring to Hai Water :) On the contrary, Ding fire is the one that would be negatively be defeated.
