We all know below fundamental components / variables make up a bazi chart :-
Heavenly Stems =
Yang & Yin Wood (甲,乙木) ;
Yang & Yin Fire (丙,丁火) ;
Yang & Yin Earth (戊,己土) ;
Yang & Yin Metal (庚,辛金) ; &
Yang & Yin Water (壬,癸水).
Earthly Branches =
Yang & Yin Wood (寅,卯木)
Yang & Yin Fire (巳,午火)
Yang & Yin Earth (辰,戌,丑,未土)
Yang & Yin Metal (申,酉金)
Yang & Yin Water (壬,癸水)
Each of the Heavenly Stems & Earthly Branches has its own representational element.
Other than the elemental differences, one more distinct feature that we tend to overlook and neglect :(

Season?
Perfect!
Besides viewing HS & EB from the perspective of elements, it is also important to view it from the perspective of seasons. This is especially useful & could facilitate us in our analysis of bazi chart.
That one word (Perfect) has leaved me elated all day!
But even though I have guessed it corrected, I really do not know why? Care to elaborate?
Thanks again.
Just imagine a Fire person born in the season of summer as compared to born in the season of winter. The answer is evidently clear :-)
I read somewhere that heavenly stem is the influence of the 5 closest planets to earth...also known as heaven Qi. This is why ancient label these nearby planets as fire star (hou xing), water star (shui xing)...etc. All the 5 elements are there!
Earthly Branches are the location of Earth in relation to Sun. I guess season is powerful because sun affect us more, maybe?
Ur blog is looking good Master Goh~
