If the energy of Pian Yin (偏印) is strong & is favorable, we can conclude that he/she is innovative, alert & is sensitive enough to be able to detect slight changes in the surrounding environment.

However, if it is too strong, the person can be a loner!

Dear Master Goh,

Perhaps you clarify a basic concept.

IMHO, the above statement is confusing and simplistic as three appear to be three separate variables: (1) DM can be strong/weak, (2) deity can be strong/weak and, (3) deity can be favorable/unfavorable to a DM.

Questions:

(1) Is this correct: Deity = Favorable OR Unfavorable, IF DM = Strong OR Weak respectively? If true, and for added clarification, is it correct to assume there is no such condition that treats DM strength and a deity’s favorable nature separately. That is to say, a condition such as -- If DM is Strong AND Deity is Unfavorable or vice versa cannot exist?

(2) What if a DM is very weak? What if a DM is moderately weak? How do such conditions affect a deity’s relative favorable/unfavorable dispositions?

(3) What if a DM is prosperous? Do you treat this condition separately, or is it also included in the “Strong DM” category?

(4) Do you count the number of occurrences to determine a deity’s strength? If so, how many occurrences determine relative strength? Further, is the presence of a deity in either a heavenly stem or hidden stem treated equally for this purpose? If not, how?

(5) When is a deity considered to be "very (too) strong?"

(6) Will a deity be considered “very strong” if it appears in the monthly (earth branch) hidden stem and is also visible in the heavenly stem irrespective of its frequency (i.e. number of deity instances)?

From my journey of learning bazi, I suggest not to fall into the trap of trying to identify the aspects of strong & weak into such a degree of precision :-) By doing so, we are confusing ourselves. Really!!

Instead, I encourge you to read more bazi for others. They will tell you, instantly, if the analysis is incorrect. From there, we make adjustment & learn. This is the fastest & surest way of effecitve learning.
