If yes, one of the possible causes is such that the Earth in your chart is Strong.
Why is that so? Because Earth represents Contemplation.

Water also depicts thinking a lot but more creative thinking while earth usually thinks of same thing but over and over.
It is also important to note the characteristics of some of these elements. For example Metal stands for justice, righteousness but it is really more applicable to Geng. Xin metal can be manipulative and can sacrifice principles to get what they want so I do not think they are always righteous. Even with Wood where benevolence is usually attached to it, surely not applicable to Yi wood all the time and even with Jia wood, their competitive nature can make them pushy to the point of being aggressive. I suppose the favourability of the element is very important before deciding what the element stands for to an individual.
I am however confused by Ji Earth though. I read that they are very adaptive but at the same time slow in making decisions as they tend to think a lot. Adaptive means can act quick but if they are slow in making decisions, it means slow in action, therefore not adaptive! The only way I think this works is, Ji earth needs people to plough them to be useful, hence they are not adaptive until someone teaches them the trade. After that, they can be very resourceful to achieve success in the things they are taught. Is this a correct assumption? Regards, NW

I like & agreed with your description :)
When the energy of Ji Earth is reasonably strong, he/she is flexible.
However, when it is too strong, decision making process can be slow.
