Just mine humble opnion...
Since Resource deals with thoughts..and out put deals with speech and wits...
could it be that for a weak day master , the resource ,secondary resource would aid in the persuit of knowledge and speed of learning?
While the output,hurting officer paired with a strong day master would be quick witted?
Another thing i could think of is the shen sha, wen chang??
i have a rather superfical understanding of bazi...hope to learn more ! : )

I will check if the Hurting Officer (output element) is present in the chart and the strength of it with respect to the day master.
For instance, for BING DM, its Hurting Officer will be Ji Earth. If it presents, then need to evaluate whether the Ji is strong based on season or whether it's rooted. Need a strong Hurting Officer in order to deduce this guy is quick witted etc.
And, lastly, need to also know if the DM is weak or strong because a weak DM with strong output star may be different from a strong DM with a strong output star.
Not sure if I'm correct in the analysis.
