How, then, can we tell whether the friends are good or bad to us?

I think it is difficult to tell whether the friends are good or bad based on the element favourability.
Usually we can still find some good friends during the negative competitive & amiable luck cycle. No man is an island.
I have a follower chart(wealth)going thru amiable luck cycle at the moment. I still meet some nice friends along the way and enjoy good relationship with them. However, I never try asking them for help because I know I am better off being independent.
I am extremely cold & cautious towards people(friends, etc) whom I don't like. I make sure they stay away from my life.
I usually depend on my instinct to identify the stranger I meet is good or bad. To confirm, I just try socialising with the stranger and see how he or she reacts.
